VIA.Pro

VIA.Pro is an open forum promoting exchanges between artists, scientists and cultural operators, with the aim of achieving a joint analysis of the frictions occurring between technology and the performing arts. A full programme of dance and theater shows, city routes, installations, performances, concerts and round table discussions will be on offer over three days in Mons. Many of the projects on show are supported by the Interreg IV European program as CECN2 and Transdigital projects.

La Web TV

Created by TechnocITé and le manège.mons/CECN, La WebTV VIA.Pro 2011 is a series of Professional meetings that take place over two days. The event is conducted by over 20 trainees - cameramen, film editors, and photographers - who have all had digital media training from TechnocITé. The site contains photographs, interviews, and extracts of shows and sessions that took place during the event etc. for you to (re)discover...

The beginning of the project and Web TV 2011 workshop

In 2011, Le manège.mons/CECN launched a new challenge for which the group of participants is made up of :
- novice participants having no knowledge of the field of photography and video,
- experienced participants who have knowledge of the basics of photography and video.
Two weeks of preparation, held prior the festival made it possible to review the basics of video and photography. During that time, the participants were paired up – the more experienced mentoring the inexperienced. Above and beyond the hands-on workshops, a meeting of minds took place.

The videos were filmed, edited and put on line during the two days of VIA.Pro 2011 meetings. A real challenge for the participants!

Happy Digital ?

VIA.Pro 2011 will be centered around a unique theme: Is the exponential growth digital technology in our lives giving us what we want or making us any happier? Looking ahead to Mons 2015, European Capital of Culture and its theme of "Where technology meets culture,” the festival will include artistic shows that turn the focus back on the spectator via immersive devices and augmented reality that offer us the chance to experience life in virtual environments, develop our sensory capacities, and go through an individual artistic experience. The schedule will also include many theatrical forms encouraging friendliness between spectators and real interaction as opposed to the virtual kind of social networks or using tweets as raw material for their project and questioning the link between technological development and greater well being. Happy Digital?

Technology and city space

Certain shows presented during VIA.Pro will make a break from the conventional locations for artistic performance and exhibitions (theaters, galleries) and move into city space, areas of city heritage, streets, shops, places that people pass through on the way to somewhere else, and even intimate, private spaces. This city route will be an opportunity to rediscover Mons differently, by the layout of the city alongside digital artwork.
